Summary:
When opening the Report Manager or when opening the ShoWorks Access Companion,
the list of reports is blank (white) and a message appears with the following
text:
"Bind tree Preset Dialogue? There is no object in this control."
Cause:
The ActiveX component to display the reports is either missing or corrupt.
Solution:
The following steps will guide you through downloading the proper file onto your
computer and registering it. You must have Administrator privileges to
perform these steps. If you are unsure about this or any of these steps,
please contact the person responsible for maintaining your computer.
Steps:
- Exit ShoWorks and/or the ShoWorks Access Companion.
- Download the following file by right-clicking the
file below and choosing "Save Target As..." or "Save Link As..."
to your Desktop (note: if you are on a different machine than the problem
computer, you may save to your Desktop the file, then use portable media such as
a flash memory stick to copy the file to the other computer).
Right-click and save this file to your Desktop >
MSCOMCTL.OCX
- Copy this file to the folder C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 or, if running Windows 64-bit,
copy to the folder C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64 Note: you will know if you are
running Windows 64-bit if the SysWOW64 exists. If this folder does not
exist, then you are not running Windows 64-bit.
- If running Windows XP, click "Start" and then click "Run" and type the following
command and hit Enter. If running Windows Vista or newer, click the Windows Button
and then under "Start Search" type the following and hit Enter:
If not running Windows 64-bit, type:
regsvr32 \windows\system32\MSCOMCTL.OCX
If running Windows 64-bit, type:
regsvr32 \windows\SysWOW64\MSCOMCTL.OCX
- You should see a message reading "DllRegisterServer ... succeeded".
If you receive an error that the file is missing, then you are not typing the
command in correctly. You must type the command exactly as shown above for
your operating system. Please note, there is a space after "regsvr32" and
before the rest of the command.
- You should now be able to run ShoWorks properly.
